The honest position
Montaza is a large estate with perimeter roads and more than one entrance, and parking arrangements can change with events, security measures and the season. We cannot confirm from our sources where visitors park today or what it costs.
Rather than describe a car park that may no longer be used, this page sets out what to find out before you drive.
Questions to settle before driving
- May private cars enter the grounds, or must they stay outside?
- Which gate should vehicles use?
- Is there a parking charge for cars, minibuses or coaches?
- Is parking time-limited or closed before the gardens close?
- Is there a separate coach bay for tour groups?
Timing and traffic
Evenings, Fridays and public holidays bring the heaviest demand along the corniche, and the approach roads to eastern Alexandria clog up accordingly. If you are driving, arriving earlier in the day usually means less circling for a space.
The return drive after sunset can be slower than the outward one, so allow for that when you decide when to leave.
If parking looks difficult
Using a taxi or ride-hailing car and being dropped at a confirmed gate avoids the parking question altogether, and is often the simplest option for a short visit. If you travel with a coach group, ask the operator whether a dedicated vehicle area has been arranged.
Vehicle entry versus roadside parking
If cars may enter the estate, parking might be inside the grounds; if they may not, drivers look for space on the approach roads and along the corniche. We have not confirmed which of these applies at Montaza, so this distinction is the first thing to resolve.
Ask the gate whether vehicles are admitted and, if not, whether there is an organised parking area nearby or only roadside space. Do not assume a car park exists simply because the estate is large.
Drop-off instead of parking
For many visitors the simplest solution is not to park at all: arrive by taxi or ride-hailing car, be dropped at a confirmed gate, and arrange the return separately. That avoids both the parking search and the vehicle-charge question.
If you are being dropped off, agree the exact point with the driver, since a drop-off outside one gate can mean a long walk to where you actually want to start.
Returning to your car
If you do drive, note where you parked in relation to the gate you entered, because a large estate can have several similar-looking entrances and it is easy to walk out of the wrong one. Save the map location of the car before you leave it.
If the gardens close before the light goes, plan to return to the car in daylight, and ask staff whether the parking area closes earlier than the gardens themselves.
How this page was checked, and when
Our position was last checked on 4 November 2026. We publish no parking locations, capacities or charges because we could not verify any of them.
To check, ask the estate through its Google Maps listing, consult the State Information Service (sis.gov.eg) or the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (egymonuments.gov.eg), or ask the gate staff on the day, who can tell you whether vehicles are being admitted.
